The Tetons Backside

Good day NPN,

I have been away for a while, but have some new work. I spent 11 days in the Grand Teton National Park area, and It was truly a life changing event. I was very much at peace out that way, and have some ideas for the future. :) This image was captured up at Lake Solitude at sunrise. I was camping with my soon to be wife, Carla, in the North Fork cascade area, and our campground had a wonderful view of the Teton peaks. I will be posting more later, but this sunrise was such a treat to experience.

Thank you in advance for your thoughts, and I think the shadows are the main question in this image. They were fairly dark, and  look a bit better in the larger version.

Canon 70d, canon 24-105, f/16, ISO 100, 3.2 sec, 4,3, and 2 stop soft grad, tripod, 10 sec timer

The image was processed in Lightroom and Photoshop CC

You have been gone a long time!  Welcome back. Sweet scene and shadows look fine to me.

Yes, definitely, welcome back Ryan.  Looks like a great sunrise in an outstanding location.  The darks looks fine to me...kind of like you see at sunrise...  You've got good detail in the higher peaks and I'm really enjoying the reflections and ripples in the lake.

Hi Ryan, Beautiful sunrise shot! I like the color in this very much and love the reflections with the rippled water. The shadows look just fine to me as well. A wonderful quiet and peaceful mood comes from this image and it sounds like you had a great time out there.

Hey Ryan,

Its a great scene well captured.  Bet that was a struggle to climb out of a warm tent to shoot!

I'd probably dodge/burn on the central background mountains to bring out some more contrast there.  I can see some of the left faces of those mountains beginning to light up but they are still a bit consistent in tone from pulling up the shadows.
