Moods of November 4

We have had a little snow and I though that would be a good way to end the November mood images. I decided on this one because it seems like a November scene that I see often and I guess it just feels like November to me. This is another one I made within a few miles of my home. It was fun for me to try and capture these moods. Thanks for all of your comments on this series of pictures. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. Nick
Larger version included!
Edit: I see there is a small blue line across the bottom in the small version. Not sure what that came from but please just look at the larger version.

Hi Nick

That happened to mine too, the blue line I mean, This is very pleasing a simple understated semi panoramic landscape depicting the latter stages of autumn with plenty of interest across the entire frame.

Nick,

Very "November" - even for a California boy like me.  This really shows the mood of your local landscape well.  I really like the diagonal of grasses framing the bottom of the image; the light is vey nice.  No complaints or suggestions here.

Regarding that line at the bottom, if you look closely, it's happening on all images.  Depending on what color someone choses for the BG or whether or not they include their own from it's less or more noticable.  It's  happening on every image.

Hopefully Jim will see this.

Anyway, enjoying your image Nick.

A nice wintery scene here grounded by the grasses.  I like how the tree on the right punches into the open sky and feel that it's a well balanced compostion

You've got a neat contrast here, Nick, between the warmth of the sunlit foreground grass and the shaded dark hillside in the distance.  The snowy areas add to the chill.  The mix of warm and cold speak well to late fall conditions.

There is an amazing graphic quality to this image for me, Nick. The diverse layers together with the subtle structures of the trees in the midground make for a most interesting composition. Your careful treatment of the subdued colors conveys the atmosphere of this autumn day in a convincing way to me.

This image has a 3d quality, Nick. I think it's the low perspective and sharp foreground grasses. You also have excellent "November" colors with the foreground grasses and the contrasting soft blue sky.

I knew right away it was from the midwest. I think you did a wonderful job of presenting this scene. I have nothing to change. I like the lighting on the FG grasses and the bare trees provide enough contrast in the scene.

I like this very much. The color and detail work very well. The light mist on the hills and the snow add to the quiet mood. The pano crop also works very well.

Regarding that line at the bottom, if you look closely, it's happening on all images.  Depending on what color someone choses for the BG or whether or not they include their own from it's less or more noticable.  It's  happening on every image.

 Lon and All,

I reported this to Jim yesterday evening and he's contacted DtP to work on a fix.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

This really has a nice fall into winter appeal.  Good soft colors in the vegetation  and a harder edge in the trees.  Well presented.

I think this may be your best November shot, although the other ones were more ambitious. I like the sense of space that separates the tree with the out of focus mist enshrouded background. I also like the use of the fg grass and the fact that it fades to darkness as you approach the frame below. From a compositional point of view I have a bit of trouble in that the tree and the group of trees are close to being equally dominant and my attention goes from one to the other and back again. I'm not sure if others can relate to this but that's how it's affecting me now.

Nick, I really like the mood of this. I can feel the fall chill and the peace and quiet of the country as it moves into winter. Very nice muted colors, light and composition.

Love the limited DOF you used here, Nick.  I think we are getting an abundance of focus stacks that work well in some instances but sometimes it does not have he desired effect.  It's refreshing to see the desired mood reflected with selective focus.  Very cool.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks to all of you for your comments and thoughts on this. It was quite enjoyable for me trying to capture some of the November moods here in S.W. Wisconsin and close to my home,. I'm happy you enjoyed seeing what I see from my home area during this month of November. Thanks, Nick
