Nice composition Jim.  I think a little increase in contrast might make it even better!

I think the overall contrast is pretty good, but the mid tones could use more separation. You might also consider cropping out the patch of sky: It's a case of either show more sky, or none. I like the flow of the water and the nice light on the cattails and the reflections.

Very nice!  I like such muted autumn (or winter) scenes. The light in the bg has a very appealing glow. I was not bothered by the sky before I saw Preston's comment. Not sure now...perhaps keeping it but darkening it a bit?

Anyway, I really like this one.

Jim,

Indeed a nice scene and one that might attract a photographer's eye.  This is nicely composed and exposed.  Now you didn't mention a tripod, but there could be options here of using a smaller aperture (f/16,22) and a longer shutter speed to potentially smooth out the water.  This of course is a personal choice.

I see great potential throughout this scene.  I'm not sure what else you may have explored, how much time you had etc.  But I see reflections and lots of things above the cascades here; the cattails, leafless trees all look like potential subject matter.

The only suggestion I have for this presentation really would be a slight drop in exposure in the lower right corner of the image.  "Burning down" the light in that area I think would allow the eye to more easily move in to the frame to explore the pretty background.

I thank you all for the comments and suggestions received.

Lon, I was walking and shooting hand held, so I was being conscious of the speed .Here is another shot, basically the same, using f/10 for a bit more dof.
