Hello everyone at NPN, I'm currently doing a presentation at a camera club meeting for the Georgia Nature Photography Association called 'Nature Photographers Network - The Power of the Critique' (see more HERE). We are at the point of the presentation where I am navigating through the NPN web-site on the big screen and showing everyone how to post.
Say hello to all these possible new members . . .  crying

This Male Cormorant, in full mating colors, was taken on my Florida Spring Break Tour last March. It was during the week that Mark Seaver had joined me and we were on the Silver River. Mark posted his version of this same subject back last June (see Mark's post HERE).

Hand held from boat, 85% of full frame.

Nice close-up, Mike.  I like the open beak and the eye.

Hello possible new members!sad The GNPA is a large and active group. Too bad they aren't closer to Savannah.

A powerful closeup. Looks like the saturation got a little much on you. The subject is a bit noisy as well. Desaturation and a light touch of NR on the subject would be beneficial. cool

Well this one certainly pops off the screen at you, Mike! Cormorants in mating colours are spectacular, especially being framed in black IMO. I guess I might agree with Phil on this being a touch oversaturated, but at the same time (a) it's really beautiful as posted, and (2) they do get seriously colourful in this situation. The background greens also look a touch hot to me (at least on my monitor) so overall I'd probably lean toward a touch less saturation if this were mine.

I really like your choice on comps as well.

Quite the bejeweled bird!

Repost is much better Mike. Beautiful Portrait of this Cormorant with rich color throughout. And of course the open beak puts it over the top. Well done!  devil
