T. rex - crop 2

Thanks for all the comments! Following suggestions from several of you, here goes a different crop. My original intention was to have the trunks suggest the legs of a T. rex, looking down on the puny photographer. I agree that this crop brings out the shape and colors of the roots much better, but at the same time the T. rex effect is mostly lost. Hence, I see them as two completely different images. Comments welcome!

By the way, the color of the moss is real. We have got a lot of rain, and no cold days until this week, so mosses are going nuts. I have amassed a large collection of images over the last couple of weeks, so there may be  more to come...

Thanks for looking!

Alberto,

Thanks for the repost.  This is what I was thinking.  Interesting, I hadn't considered the "leg and foot" impression, but it makes sense now.  So I agree, you now have two different versions.  I think this works very well.  And no worries on the moss, I think we've all experienced the brilliance of the moss when at it's peak.

The moss looks totally natural to me, they sure can look like that. This crops works a lot better for me! Now the burning issue I nagged about in the other comp is no longer an issue anymore as well. Nice!

Alberto,
Much prefer this crop version. I think it creates a much stronger comp. by focusing on the roots. Very nice!

I agree that you now have to different comps.   Both are very nice, but I think I like this one cause the roots  are where it's at.  The moss looks very natural to me, although we don't see much of it here in the desert.

I prefer the other version - it does give the impression of legs and feet, while this is more about roots.
An interesting lesson in composition!

Albert, Interesting seeing both versions of this now. The colors, textures and details here look great and I love the natural and earthy feel this has. For me the other version just seems to work a bit better overall but I do like this one as well.
