I had the whole beach to myself this particular morning with the exception of a couple of late arriving photographers who missed this lovely sunrise. I have always like the sunrise here because of the lack of photographers who usually crowd one another on Cobble Beach.

As always thanks for taking a look and leaving a comment or suggestion.

The 720 pixel image just doesn't do this justice. It needs to be viewed large like the 1600 pixel detail image. enlightenedenlighteneddevil

Beautifully processed Ed, everything looks spot on color/contrast/sharpness-wise. I really like that FG light reflection.

I'm not sure about the comp though as it feels quite right heavy. A 4x5 comp might be worth exploring even though you would lose some nice sky and wave action.

Other minor nits: might be a 1/4 degree CW rotation. There is a darker spot in the clouds just above the sunlit trees in the BG center that looks like a dust bunny (even if it isn't) so I would be tempted to clone that away.

Love the energy between the clouds and the receding surf.

Ed,
Excellent capture. Very creative use of the outgoing surf as leading lines. The clouds are exceptional and in my view make the image. With this in mind I might try to burn down the bright spots and try to pull out even more detail/texture in the sky.

Ed, I'm really enjoying this image! The motion of the water works great and I especially like the overall feel this has (large version). Very nice light and color in this. I'm not sure what that darker spot is in the clouds but agree with Dave that cloning it out would probably be a good idea. Nice work on this!

Thanks for your thoughts folks. Here is a repost with both Dave E. and Dave D. suggestions of a little CCW rotation, removing that dust spot and a little selective burning of the highlights in the clouds.

Great sense of the rushing water!  I can feel the motion. I like the repost, too. Cool image.

I'm definitely getting pulled into this image, Ed.  The large view is an absolute must to enjoy the wonderful light on the rocks and the sweet sky.  The repost is spot on.

A really inviting image. A lot of beach in the foreground, but thanks to the streaks of foam that simply looks great! Repo is spot on with the correction tilt.

Ed,

A lovely seascape with some dynamic action - the receding water really works to pull the eye in to the frame.  Great job with the repost; the little adjustments had a big effect.

I don't know if this would be an improvement or not, but something I'm thinking of.  The beach and water do cover more than half the image and almost take away from the wonderful sunrise sky and warm light on the headlands.  What if you cropped some off the bottom to  help bring the sky, clouds and land a little more attention?  Interesting, that the streaks of foam still pull me in to the frame.  And the narrower format really fits the shoreline, surf line and sky.  Maybe the downside is making this more of a 50/50 comp, which is why I'm not sure if that's an improvement.  I guess just an alternate thought.
