I finally made a winter photo this year, though technically in spring.  This was from this weekend in NH's Pinkham Notch near Mount Washington.  A thin layer of rime ice formed as freezing fog blew through at lower elevations, while sun lit upper elevations were much colder but saw none of these conditions.

D810, 16-35, ISO 400 (windy conditions), f13, 1/250th sec.

Gorgeous image. The rime ice is beautiful, especially at the tree tops. Lovely color palette as well. Both comp and processing look great.

Ah, rime ice like this is the best. Whether it was winter or spring doesn't even matter, this is a great photo!

Harry, your caught this beautiful scene perfectly, with blue sky for contrast, and just enough of the clouds to hint at the source of the rime ice. Intricate beauty simply portrayed with not only the details, but also graphically interesting vertical and diagonal lines.  Well done!

Very nice Harry.  I think I agree with Harley that a conversion to b/w could be worth a shot.   I like It as presented just fine.  Looks crisp and cold.

Beautiful frost covered trees.  Love the stately lines of the trees.  Your inclusion of the sky works very well in this instance, the blues and clouds adding to mood of the image.  The larger version is especially nice.

Here is a BW version as suggested earlier.  I had thought that the separation of the lower sections of the image were better with the color version, so that was my original inclination.  The sky / tree transitions were going to be well defined, so I knew that portion of the image wasn't going to be a problem.  I slightly tinted the highlights yellow and the shadows blue in ACR as done by another NPNer previously - I wish I could remember who to give credit.  Hopefully this is subtle and just adds some contrast without actual contrast adjustment.  BW conversion in PS.

Beautiful ice-covered trees in this! Personally, I love the color version. The B&W looks like an infra-red photo, which I'm not fond of. I feel like the blues and browns separate the trees from the background, and in the B&W, it becomes more chaotic.

The ice on trees brings everything interesting especially with a nice composition. Colors and light take big advantage of the light passing through the ice. The B&W version is, for me, too dramatic for this photograph, I prefer the happiness of the color one.Very nice work.
