The Boat-Tailed Grackles were regular visitors at our dock and gangway on the St Johns River's Lake George. I managed this shot in very nice light one morning that gave good detail to the insect hitching a ride on the grackle's chest. Hand held, 70% of full frame.

Nice job on the blues in the plumage, Mike.  You'll have to file this one in case they do that "big & small" weekly challenge again.  The bug was placed perfectly.

Hi Mike,

Good job on capturing the blues of this BT grackle. The midge is a nice, unexpected addition.  BG is colorful, but nice and soft. Well donedevil........................Jim

Marvelous detail in the Grackle Mike and I like the diagonal lines created in the background and how the bird is placed within them. The wind blown feathers add interest too...as well as the bug!  Nice work!  devil
