Below the Radar

Heavy overcast with light rainy conditions and thunder storms moving in keep me off the water and on a hillside next to the lake mulling over my options for the rest of the afternoon when this Egret came cruising by below me just a few feet above the water. I managed a series of shots but liked this one the best with the nice reflection. Hand held, 70% of full frame.

Love your work Mike! I checked it out after viewing the larger version of the above shot.  Regarding the circumstances of this shot, I often muse while cruising for shots at how I have to be prepared for what I am given, rather than what I want.  A little niggle here though - the leading edge of the right wing looks soft even though I don't think it is, looking at the rest of the feathers - maybe it's brighter and the detail is less - anyway overall a nice capture!

I like it, Mike.  The looking down angle is unusual and really accents the reflection.  Nice to get the top and bottom of the wing in the same image.  Nice work.

Mike: I really like seeing the bird in flight along with its perfect reflection. Nicely done. Richard

Nice reflection and good detail considering the conditions.

This is really gorgeous Mike!  Love both of the reflections which result in an extremely well balanced image.  Great eye on this one!
