On this second trip to Norway, I was keen to find some locations which were not part of the usual Utakleiv/Vareid/Reine/Skagsanden circuit. Here's one that I don't recall being photographed before. The lake was in the process of freezing over and some intriguing patterns were on show.

Everything seems to be in motion around the line of solid mountains.  Wonderful range of contrasting tones and textures, not least in the two halves of the sky.  Great choice of time and place to shoot !!

Excellent!  Very moody image with great textures, shapes,  tones and clouds. Very sweet.

BTW, it looks like the link to your blog in your signature is not working right?

Nice patterns in both the water and the ice! The swirls make the water look otherwordly almost. The processing looks great to me.

This is excellent. Dramatic and moody. Lots going on to hold my interest. The darker rendering works very well.

Sweet. I like the dark mood here, Kah Kit; it adds some drama and mystery to the scene. I love the tones and textures throughout and those swirls in the water are fascinating and do a wonderful job of drawing me into the image.

I like this one a lot, especially the smoky aspect of the river, which appears to be created by a slow shutter speed. I personally feel that the clouds are a bit darker than optimal, especially on the left. I think have greater definition of those dark clouds would still keep the mood that's desired. The patchwork of shadows on the ice field is fascinating.

Thanks for the comments. Just a note that this is not a long exposure. The swirls already exist in the partly frozen water.

Stunning image! The combination of lines and textures in the land, water, clouds, and mountains is exceptional.
Very fine work!

Beautiful b/w image.  Has it all, drama, texture, wonderful tones, a great sky, and a very unique feel.  Love it.

A lot of drama and a very nice comp lead in.
Maybe a bit contrasty?

This is fabulous, Kah Kit.  I really like the motion in the water, the curved stream leading to the peak in the BG.  Very nicely done.   I was thinking perhaps the clouds could use more structure, but the more I think about it, the more I think it would distract from the foreground, which to me is more compelling and rightfully so.
