Union Bay Shoreline

Shortly after shooting the sunrise at Union Bay in the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness Area I made this shot of the shoreline. I really enjoyed the look and feel of the early light at this spot. Western edge of Upper Michigan on Lake Superior. Larger version included.

I love the sweet light along with the drama in the clouds, Nick. I am really enjoying the tranquil mood in the scene; looks like the perfect way to start the day. I have to make it up to your area one of these days.

Thanks Ed! Yes, if you get the chance to head up here we could get together for a few days around Lake Superior. Just let me know. Nick

Wonderful light on the trees Nick.  Wishing for a touch more brightness in the foreground area but that is a matter of taste.  Lovely image none the less.

Love the shades of green with the stormy sky.  Quite peaceful.

Very nice, Nick. Lovely tonalities. The soft lighting gives it a great mood.

You've got some fine light on the shoreline, set against a quite storm sky here, Nick.  It looks like some of the trees are starting to change colors already.  The stretch of breaker in the lower right adds nicely.

Beautiful Nick.  I think the vignette perfectly concentrates the light in this peaceful scene.  I love the sweep of the shoreline and the nice clouds top it all off.  Very nice.

Nick: If I make it up your way I will be sure to shoot you an email about getting together for a few days. It is a place I have wanted to visit after seeing your images.

Love the glow on those trees, Nick, contrasting wit the darker clouds above.  That together with the gentle arc of the shoreline makes for a wonderful image.
