Tumwater Falls

With the cold weather we've been having (rain returns tonight, so we'll have something else to complain about), I thought our local waterfall in Tumwater would have some interesting ice formations.  Apparently it hasn't been cold enough, because I didn't find much and unfortunately, most of the course of the falls gets little or no sun this time of year.  I did find one patch with a little light on some icy bushes on the far side.  This is the result.

5Diii, EF28-70 f/2.8L @ 70 mm, hand held balanced on guard rail, f/22, 1/4 sec, iso 100, aperture priority, pattern metering, -1/3 EV.  Processed in LR5 & CS6,  cropped a bit from the top to get rid of more shrubbery that didn't seem to add anything to the image.  Taken at 10:54 on January 5th.

Comments and criticisms are most welcome.

Thanks,

I like this Dennis!  I like the water flow as you have recorded it.  I would consider a tighter crop from the left.  Is this the water that great Oly beer was brewed from?  Neat photo, thanks for sharing.

Thanks, John.  I doubt they used river water for the beer, but the old brewery is still there, just a stones throw from the falls.  Due to a bunch of restrictions in the buy out and screw ups from local officials, its been sitting empty for years.  I think they finally sold it last year and it's supposed to be redeveloped into something, but not a brewery.cheeky

Dennis, I went to Great Falls last week hoping for some icicle formations and found that three days of very cold (for around here) weather wasn't enough.  I like your ss choice and how it shows both some nice flow as well as details.  The icicles also look good, but would be better if they occupied more of the frame.  Is this where we start chanting more cold, more cold...sad

Good idea to go to Tumwater Falls.  But it rarely stays cold long enough around here for there to be any ice action.  Looks like you got a little in this image.  But the water flow looks really nice and the shade of green looks really cold.  The composition is really fine.
