Home Invasion!

We were invaded by female Ichneumon Wasps last week in our home!   My cats went crazy, as the wasps kept moving on our huge window frame and glass, jumping around and generally acting insane frown

I got out my camera and took a number of close ups.  this one was one of the ones, that I liked of the side view.  I hope you like it too.  Some of my photos show the long ovipositors separated, but in this photo...they are closed together like one long ovipositor.

The colors in the abdomen along with the blue eye and the details like the little "fangs" are outstanding, Lucy.  The nearly all white background does a fine job of showing off those colors and details as the diagonal perch adds interest.

This is cool;  nice detail for a good documentary shot, and also graphically appealing (including the frame).  Nice work.

P.S.   Good observation about the ovipositor.  On a technical note, it has only one ovipositor:  Insects with ovipositors each have a single ovipositor.  In these wasps (as well as many other insects) the ovipositor has two parts to help it slice into the host or even tough plant tissue to inject eggs, and a two-part sheath to help protect the more delicate ovipositor.
