I was keen to squeeze off a few dozen shots before the onset of an impending thunderstorm. There were many bothersome OOF reeds in the foreground and I couldn’t get closer to this handsome Shoveler. The shots were profiles or rear views of the bird. Finally the bird turned its head toward me, presenting a better side view of its shovel – just what I wanted!

Thanks for viewing
Your crits and nits are most welcome

The light allowed you to keep the white sides under control. I wish it also hadn't taken the color out of the water.

Hi David,

A nice view of this male shoveler.  The film of water on the head does not take away much of the green head color which is good.  I like the gray water--brings out the rusty red feathers on the duck..............................Jim

Nice detail and what look like overcast conditions worked well with the water sheen these birds always have on their heads and bills.  A nice clean image of this bird.
