Young Ground Squirrels

These are young golden-mantled ground squirrel siblings.  I posted a photo of these same two a few years ago in a different pose.  Haven't had much time to get out photographing lately, so now relying partly on archives.  I followed these two for quite awhile.  They were full of fun, chasing each other, wrestling, and generally having a great time.  Finally they rested and surveyed their surroundings a bit on this downed log.  D300, 300f4, 1.4tc, 1/500, 7.1, ISO 400.  Would appreciate any comments.

Jim,
I am so glad you have been looking in your archives, it is remarkable what you can overlook first time round, as I have been doing the same process.
This "find" is a beautiful capture of beautiful animals, marvelousdevil

Hey Jim,
The large version is simply outstanding with wonderful color and detail. I love the pose of each subject and that log they are perched on almost steals the show. Top it all off with a 'Cute' factor that is off the charts and a very complimentary background, Man-frown-Man, it don't get much better than this.
Well Done . . .  devil

HI Jim,

It's always hard to get two subjects to "line-up" (on the same focal plane) and simultaneously offer good poses - that alone makes the shot special. In a sense this would also be a great "field guide" shot in that you have given great views of the stripes on the back, belly coloration, and more. Nicely done.

Cheers...

A terrific story-telling shot, which is technically flawless. I may give two minor suggestions. If you have some more room sideways, on both sides, that would probably lift the picture further. And secondly, I would prefer to reduce the sharpness on the tree.
