Surf Scoter

Over the years, I'm sure I've seen well over a thousand Surf Scoters, but this is the first time I've seen one on land.  It was doing a lot of preening.  It looks a little worse for wear.  Not sure if it is molting or had some oil on it.  Here it looks a bit forlorn, but overall seemed to be healthy and not in any distress.  Big feet, too.  Seen just at the shore line along the Oregon Coast.

Canon 7d Mark II
Sigma 150-600 at 600 mm
!/1000 at f6.3
ISO 640

Thanks for looking.  Comments and suggestions are appreciated.

A natural and visually clean image. Good action, actually doing something, and somewhat the worse for wear. Which is OK.

I really like the pose in this image.  It almost reminds me of some of the Penguin photos I've seen.  Is this a recent image?  I haven't seen a Scoter in two months.

Thanks for the comments.  David: This was taken on July 5 th.  I also saw a large group on the water last weekend up in Yachats.

Great low angle, Allen.  It does look awfully bedraggled, but I've never seen one out of the watr, so it could well be completely normal.
