I wish the light of the water had been more interesting but I should not complain when I get 4 Pintail's in perfect focus.  This was taken the same day as the Merganser I just posted.

Iso-1000, 200-500 at 440 mm, F8, 6400, handheld, D 500, 60% full frame, DxO Optics Pro, ACR 10, Topaz adjust, TK sharpening action that 40%

I like the pano crop for this image as it serves to limit the amount of OOF water.  I like it as is, but consider a little more room on the left and less on the right?

These are attractive ducks that are nicely photographed. I like the perspective; looks as if you were close to the water level.  I would agree with adding a bit of water on the left for the ducks to swim into.

I find multiple subjects always difficult. These all look good to me.

Yeah, what was I thinking.  I was thinking of trying to make all the Pintail's look as large as possible and not thinking about the composition.  So here is a better composition with more space on the left-hand side.  And despite all my efforts to reduce the blue saturation as much as possible in the water, the JPEG compression here defeated my efforts.

Excellent, David.  The composition on the repost works very well.  One of those that really needs to be printed large.

These Pintails certainly are handsome birds, David. I've shot them in the Bosque a few times. They're pretty easy when they hang out along the banks. I agree that framing left works better. Shooting with a prime I often tend to center my subjects without regarding composition. Luckily in a case like this taking a wider shot affords you the latitude for a pleasing comp.

Really nice.  If this were mine I'd add less on the left-hand side.  I might take just a little off the right-hand side and add some, but not as much as you did, on the left-hand side.  But you can, of course, feel free to ignore! :)
