True to form, a dozen or so Ferruginous Ducks chose to spend the winter months among the moored boats in front of the Maison Royale. For this take, I chose an unorthodox rear view of a drake with the eye (the females have dark eyes) being the focus of attention. I kept the BG as simple as possible and opted against including any colored nuances.
 Thanks for viewing
Your crits and nits are most welcome

A superb portrait, David.  The detail is fantastic from front to back (or vice versa in this case)  I like your idea of the plain bg and I think it would be even better with the darkest patch on the top removed as my eye gets glued to it.

Great capture David. Love the subtle reflections and the duck has struck quite a pose. Keep up the good work

David, I love the colors in this one, especially the water under him. The detail is also really nice. Well done.

Crisp and clear. These ducks are rare here in The Netherlands, does the same applies to Switzerland ? Nice pose and the clear water adds a lot ! Cheers, Hans

Really nice position of bird.  The muted earth colors are lovely.
