Black Headed Gull

One of the UK's most common birds - but still very photogenic. I'm a bit dissapointed that it's so tight in the frame, but I still like the pose and lighting in this shot. I'm sure I could add a little more space if necessary.

EOS 1Ds, 500/4L IS, 1.4X, 550EX/BB (-2 1/3), ISO 200, 1/1000 @ F5.6, G1548/1380. Cropped a little off the base to eliminate distracting wing reflection.

This is great. These guys are a lot of fun to shoot I think. The light is perfect and I like the pose. I would like to see the relection but I think you might lose some impact if you pulled back a bit.

Guy,
This is terrific! He (she?) really pops off the screen. IMHO the composition is perfect. For a beautiful shot like this tight is good. The color combination in this shot is spectacular.

Gorgeous capture Guy! Yes, a bit tight but still wonderful in almost every other respect. Great timing and the feather details in this are wonderful! :jump: :jump:

Great shot! The pose, light, and details are all fantastic. For a shot of this type with the spread wings, I don't think it's too tight. More importantly you got all the wingtips in with room to spare. These birds are rare and highly sought after on this side of the Atlantic.

Argh! This is so good! We get a few here every winter and it's the last gull I need for around here! Send it my way! UPS or FedEx is fine.

WOW. Perfect.

I don't mind it being so tight in the frame. Excellent.

I also wonder about the reflection. Must have been impressive to see.

Cheers
