More from my favorite pond. Shot earlier this month during a light morning rain shower. Thanks for looking.

Hi Mary :wavey: This is wonderful. I feel like I'm standing right there watching the rain hit the water. The FG reeds are placed nicely in the corner to portray the idea of being at a small marsh area and the reflections at the top from more reeds (I assume) really add to the overall feel of a marshy pond on a rainy day. I can feel the raindrops...

Hi Mary! I like this a lot! The hard angular shapes of the reeds agains the circular patterns of the raindrops, with the soft reflections of the trees...I see this as a study in shapes and forms and textures. Well done! :toast:

The simplicity of this image is it's strength; the concentric circles created by the raindrops is mesmerizing, the sepia toning works wonderfully too!. Great image!.

Lovely, Mary, and a great composition.

The circular raindrops play a nice foil against the angles of the grasses.

Very nice.

If the black and white didn't make this so artsy, I might liken the circles on the pond to polka dots. And even in the monochrome, the image feels kind of whimsical.

Nice as it is, but franky I just love a pano crop just above the reeds, showing only the raindrops and the reflection.

Cheers,

This is great Mary! Subtle and yet very interesting. The reeds do a fantastic job of grounding the image. Well done.

Mary this is a piece of art! just wonderful.
(if you have a version with (ever so) slightly more space for the reeds at the bottom, I would be tempted to order a print!

Oh Mary, this is great. You're really putting out some nice work! I love the tonal gradient from bottom to top, and the raindrops really make this.

Hey thanks for the comments folks! Glad to know this image was enjoyed by some. I was mostly drawn by the geometry of the scene as I was viewing it and also just enjoyed the smells and sounds of the light rain hitting the water. I am really happy to know that the essence of what apppealed to me has come through with this rendition.

Georg: Don't think I can accomdate you with any more breathing room on the bottom. I shot it with this square crop in mind knowing that the less photogenic crud in the scene would be easily lopped off in the post processing. Darn! I'm sure glad you like the image though.

Artful composition, the reed in juxtaposition with the reflections UL, connected by the water/ rain drops. Superb B&W

Mary, this is beautiful. There are so many little wonders to contemplate. The most prominent for me is that feeling of those first few drops of a rain shower. The smell of upcoming rain, the coolness, and the dark clouds rolling in. It's one of nature's more magical moments and you've captured it's very essence perfectly.
