Cades Cove Morning
by Lori Kincaid
Hi, all! I'm way behind on scanning film, but here's one shot with the digital during the GSMIT (Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont) Spring Photo Workshop. We're very fortunate to get to go into the cove before sunrise. It was a magical morning.
I'd appreciate your comments!

Very delicate and so beautiful. I just love everything about this one.
Great work!
Let's see if I can find a word that hasn't been used yet...
Elegance. I love the flow of the clouds - kinda like nature's wind tunnel. Absolutely a beautiful image. Congratulations!

This is simply an amazing image! One of my all time favorites from your spectacular portfolio.
There's also a fall Tremont workshop. We don't always photograph the Cove in the fall because it's so crowded, but Willard Clay is the lead and he's a great instructor. You can find out more about the workshops here.

Absolutely Fantastic!

Sweet/rare shot. I know those trees well. What focal length? My guess is 300mm???
Alice, see my response to Michael in this thread for more info on the Tremont workshops. There's a fall workshop, but we don't go into the Cove for sunrise.
Erich, you pretty much guessed it on the focal length. This was shot with a D200 at 180mm so with the crop factor it's about 270.

Really nice. Something to be said about being at the right place at the right time.

I love the layers and muted colors.
Nice job.

What a beautiful, peaceful photograph. I love the flow of the clouds and the softness of the light. I can almost smell the air. Great work!
I would really like to know how you, and some others, are able to put their personalized signature into your images. The white script and the drop shadow is so nice and subtle. If you would like to share the secret, I'd be very grateful.

Go to the Digital Imaging forum and search on 'signature.' That will bring up a thread called, "Signature on Prints" or something like that. I use the method described there by Rod Barbee to create a signature brush. I then use the brush on a new layer and apply a drop shadow to the layer (Layer>Layers style>Drop shadow. Hope this helps!

I was SO HOPING this would get into the Annual EP's! This is one of my all time favorite shots that I've seen here on NPN. Congratulations!
