Being self taught, I consider myself an artist and not a true photographer. From my earliest days I have worked in different mediums including watercolor, pen and ink, carvings and of course photography.
I have the luxury of living on the North Olympic Peninsula in Washington state, near a little town called Sequim (Sk-wim). The shadow of the Olympic Mountains falls across my home and of course the Olympic National Park is in my backyard.
My focus is on the Park and its many faceted points of interest. The mountains, rivers and rugged coastline is a photographer's paradise. I try to find the "path less traveled," when shooting the area. The park has been photographed by the very best in the business and so looking for the shots that are not well known is what drives me to be fresh and original.
I have been shooting landscape for almost ten years. Shooting 35mm, turning to medium format and finally taking advantage of the digital revolution. I now shoot with a Canon 5D and L series lenses.
My images have won many local contests, been displayed in galleries on the Peninsula and have graced several labels on Olympic Cellars Winery's bottles of wine.
I also enjoy the Oregon and British Columbia coastlines and the lighthouses that dot them, again trying to bring a fresh perspective to these intriquing structures.
I am a current member of NANPA and NPN.
Need images that are unique to the Peninsula? Let my 35+ years living here find exactly what you are looking for. Regards, Chris
